چکیده

This brief review discusses electronic properties of mesoscopic graphene-based structures. These allow controlling the confinement and transport of charge and spin; thus, they are of interest not only for fundamental research, but also for applications. The graphenerelated topics covered here are: edges, nanoribbons, quantum dots, pn-junctions, pnpstructures, and quantum barriers and waveguides. This review is partly intended as a short introduction to graphene mesoscopics. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Electronic Behavior of Doped Graphene Nanoribbon Device: NEGF+DFT

Quantum transport properties of pure and functioned infinite lead-connection region-lead systembased on the zigzag graphene nanoribbon (2-zGNR) have been investigated. In this work the effectof the doping functionalization on the quantum transport of the 2-zGNR has been computationallystudied. Also, the effect of the imposed gate voltages (-3.0, 0.0 and +3.0 V) and bias voltages 0.0 to2.0 V hav...

Spin-polarized transport through a zigzag-edge graphene flake embedded between two armchair nanoribbons electrodes

We study the coherent spin-polarized transport through a zigzag-edge graphene flake (ZGF), using Hubbard model in the nearest neighbor approximation within the framework of the Green function’s technique and Landauer formalism. The system considered consists of electrode/ (ZGF)/electrode, in which the electrodes are chosen to be armchair nanoribbons. The study was performed for two types of ele...

Quantum Transport in Graphene: Impurity Scattering as a Probe of the Dirac Spectrum

Since the very first investigations of the electronic properties of graphene, the nature of the scattering disorder potential has been shown to play an essential role in determining the carrier density dependence of the conductance. Impurity scattering is characterized by two different times the transport and elastic scattering times which are sensitive to the particular Dirac spectrum of graph...

Graphene armchair nanoribbon single-electron transistors: The peculiar influence of end states

We present a microscopic theory for interacting graphene armchair nanoribbon quantum dots. Long-range interaction processes are responsible for Coulomb blockade and spin-charge separation. Short-range ones, arising from the underlying honeycomb lattice of graphene smear the spin-charge separation and induce exchange correlations between bulk electrons —delocalized on the ribbon— and single elec...

An Electrochemical Investigation of Nano Cerium Oxide/Graphene as an Electrode Material for Supercapacitors

In this paper, the effect of cationic and anionic ion sizes on the charge storage capability of graphene nanosheets is investigated. The electrochemical properties of the produced electrode are studied using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques in 3M NaCl, NaOH, and KOH electrolytes. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to characterize the mi...
